ABOUT--Projects

When the ANAK Society was founded in 1908, there were many needs on campus as the Georgia School of Technology began to move away from the rigid shop and classroom environment of the first decades. With the selection of Kenneth Matheson as President, Georgia Tech took strides to change its image from a trade school to that of a reputable academic institution in its own right. It is during this time that student activities and groups began to flourish on the campus, in part due to the efforts of the ANAK Society.

ANAK's charter members founded or assisted, among other things, the Blueprint, the Technique, Student Government, and the Georgia Tech YMCA. In later years and ever since, seniors in the Society have undertaken "Projects" to improve the campus or the student body. Done anonymously at the time, these projects have established many of the fixture organizations on campus.

It has been the policy of the Society since its inception to turn over to the students any activity formed by the Society as soon as the activity has proven worthwhile and self-supporting. ANAK prides itself in identifying campus needs and taking the necessary steps to address them but does not involve itself in the operation of any activity longer than necessary.

The following links provide more in-depth information on two projects from the Society's past. More project profiles will be forthcoming.
