| Cookout Called on Account of Rain |

Shock! Horror! It appears Atlanta is experiencing some sudden nasty weather and the much anticipated Fall Cookout has been canceled! It's perfectly sunny in Metz (according to local sources uncharacteristically so), so I don't know what you guys' problem is.
Not to fret though, as we're bound to reschedule it for a day with more cooperative conditions. Watch this space (and the mailing list, and Facebook, etc.) for updates. And we'd like to remind everyone in particular that our meetings are held indoors and there will still be one tomorrow at noon, rain or shine.

Sorry about that guys, I kind of moved to France.
That understood, we're actually into the Fall Semester now, so there's a new lineup and a new meeting schedule. Approximate minutes and meeting notes for the rest of our activities over the summer are in the archive where they belong.
Chris Stuckey, our glorious former president and current chair of MomoCon staff, has the following message for our non-Tech devotees and con-goers:
I have a very special announcement for you today, and that is that we are opening up our parent organization, Anime O-Tekku for all-year-round attendance by the general public. Anime O-Tekku will have 7 regular meetings between now and December where we show unlicensed anime from 12pm until 5pm. While there is no charge to attend our meetings Anime O-Tekku is required by our by-laws to charge dues to those who want to be members. Our dues for non-Georgia Tech students will be $25 a semester, but in exchange for the dues we provide pizza and soda at every meeting. If being a part of the organization behind MomoCon is of any appeal to you, or anyone you know, then please come by our first meeting on Saturday August 29th, in the Student Center Theater (the building where MomoCon has been held). You can find directions as well as meeting dates on the website
Dues are still $20 per semester for current students, at least according to recent emails.
Finally, I'm told there is a cookout on the Klaus lawn to be held this Friday at 5:00pm. I say told because of course I can't attend, and will be silently cursing under my breath that evening while imagining all the fun you'll be having. Actually scratch that, I'll probably be getting hammered in downtown Metz. You Americans don't get to have all the fun.
Anime O-Tekku encourages all our members to drink responsibly, and only if and where legally allowed.

Tomorrow is our third meeting of the summer, which will be held in room 320 in the student center this time. That's right by the stairs where the extra dealers' rooms are during Momocon. Last meeting we pretty much settled that we'd be watching Cross Game in addition to the rest of the shows, and possibly an episode of Chrome Shelled Regios if we have time for it. So the line up for this week and the rest of the summer is: - Eden of the East
- Basquash!
- Sengoku Basara
- Guin Saga
- Cross Game
- Chrome Shelled Regios if time permits
Hope to see all of you there. Also, if you have not signed up for the site yet and/or filled out your profile, please do so. There's also a field to specify your status at GT now, so even if you have filled it out, you may want to tell us whether you're an undergrad, a visiting alum, or something else.

As it turns out, we had plenty of time to watch a fifth and sixth show, since the primary meeting schedule wrapped up around 3:30. The minutes of the meeting are as follows:
Summer Meeting 2 June 6, 2009, 12:00-5:00 |
|---|
| 11:45 | ANNOUNCEMENTS |
|---|
| 12:05 | Eden of the East 2-3 |
|---|
| 12:50 | Sengoku Basara 2-3 |
|---|
| 1:35 | LUNCH BREAK |
|---|
| 2:00 | Guin Saga 2-3 |
|---|
| 2:45 | Basquash! 2-3 |
|---|
| 3:30 | Cross Game 2-3 |
|---|
| 4:15 | Chrome Shelled Regios 2 |
|---|
As to the announcements, the main one relates to the latest site update, which is the implementation of a user sign-on and profile system. There's not much that you can do with this yet, but the one thing you CAN do to help us is create a user, log in, and then fill out your profile information for us. This will enable us to more effectively track membership and attendance in the club, both now and in the future. So for our sakes and yours, please register.

It's a bit short notice, but you all should have gotten Facebook invites and emails about this already. Next meeting is TODAY at noon, in the Student Center Theater. That's right, today only (and one other day later in the summer) we've graduated to the big room, and can stretch our legs. On the schedule for this meeting:
- Eden of the East
- Sengoku Basara
- Basquash!
- Guin Saga
We may also, depending on time and interest, be watching:
- Cross Game
- Chrome Shelled Regios
Be there, or be a quadrilateral.
In other news, expect some visible changes to the site in the next few days. I've been working on something that, I think at least, is pretty cool.

Thanks to everyone who attended our first summer meeting. We appreciated you taking the time to show up, and hope you will also vote on the shows you want to see for the rest of the summer (and possibly into fall). Those of you who did attend and paid your dues will be getting emails explaining how to vote in the near future--yes, even those of you who left halfway through, you ingrates.
For future reference, here is a rough schedule of what we watched, with snarky comments to help you keep them straight:

|---|
| 1:20 | Asura Cryin' 1 | Something involving ghosts and ancient mecha and a three-way religious war between some vaguely defined parties. |

|---|
| 2:10 | Sengoku Basara 1 | Bring out the raging fire of your burning shounen heart! In feudal Japan! |

It might not look it, but I've actually done a substantial amount of work in the past couple days restructuring the site and bringing it closer to something at least remotely resembling current web standards. There's still a lot that can be done, such as dumping the table layout and making better use of CSS, but at least now there's some design consistency. Those of you who don't do any web design will probably not notice a thing. But those who come after me will probably appreciate that it is now much easier to add a new page to the site, reorganize the sidebar navigation, or create a new theme, without having to dig into every page on the site to make sure things stay consistent. For instance, you can easily check out what the site looks using our previous unused themes. Hooray for small victories.
It's also been brought to my attention that we will not be able to get Klaus this summer, due to the exorbitant room fee they intend to charge us. Instead, we'll be meeting all around the Student Center, drifting from room to room like nomads on a schedule that is yet to be determined. You can look at the currently scheduled meetings on the meetings page, but bear in mind that the location is still up in the air. More news to follow as we get it.

Hello all, and welcome to a new and hopefully more productive era of website administration in O-Tekku history. The anime club has been through many long years and gone through many changes, some for the better and some not so much. But one constant has been the cadence of the normal school semester, while in the summer we all take time off. No longer! For the first time, we will be attempting summer meetings, which means that you members of the club who are around during the summer (and who actually bother checking the website) can continue to get your social anime watching fix.
Our first meeting will take place on Saturday, May 30th, 12-4pm in Klaus Room 1443, and we hope to have meetings every two weeks until school starts up in August. Pizza and drinks will be provided, although previous dues do NOT cover the summer; if you're interested in continuing to receive member benefits of free pizza and soda (or perhaps receiving them for the first time), be sure to bring $20 in dues for the summer. This is also a voting meeting, and we'll be narrowing down our selection of shows to watch to several core favorites. There are some really great things out this season, so be sure to attend and be heard. I'm particularly excited about seeing the club reaction to Eden of the East.
We're also still looking for ideas for activities over the summer, and during the main season. So if you have anything you'd like to do, please don't hesitate to contact your officers, we'd love to hear from you.

I am asking everyone to be a part of this process, or at least come to be
informed of possible changes starting this Fall semester.
I am once again conducting this meeting on IRC, should you have any difficulty
with the process of using our Java Applet, or setting up an IRC client, I will

For the first IRC meeting this Monday the topic for discussion will be the new anime season.
So feel free to join us in discussing the different shows that are currently airing and have fun connecting with fellow anime lovers in a new way. That will be this Monday, May 26th at 8:30PM (you are certainly welcome to come in earlier if you like).

| Officer Elections |

One important note, a requirement to run for an officer is you have to be a
current Georgia Tech student. Below you will find a description of each of the
4 positions, please consider carefully which one you would like, and get back
to me as soon as possible.
President: Head of the club (runs the meetings)
Responsibilities:
-Is in charge of making a reservation schedule for meetings/showings, and
getting the location.
-Organizes how meetings will take place, and the general flow of the meetings.
-Coordinates MomoCon reservations.
-Assigns, and assists in other officer's duties.
Desirable Skill set:
-People and public speaking skills
-Good at managing people, and delegating duties
-A bonus is extreme passion for the club
Time Investment: Variable depending on time of year and level of commitment,
generally an hour outside of meetings a week
Vice President: Communications (runs the meetings in absence of President)
Responsibilities:
-Manages, and updates the website, mailing list, and Facebook group.
-Request permissions from anime licensors when needed.
Desirable Skill set:
-Basic knowledge of HTML, or a willingness to learn HTML and PHP.
-Writes well, and enjoys the art of good communication
-A bonus is a graphic designer with website experience
Time Investment: Less than an hour outside of meetings every other week(when
updates happen)
Secretary: Attendance and Advertising (3rd to run meetings)
Responsibilities:
-Keeps record of attendance (expected to have near flawless attendance)

banners.
-Works with President, and Vice President on Advertising Campaigns.
Desirable Skill set:
-Reliable record keeper
-Artistic or artistically inclined

likely no more then 1 advertisement need be created a month, barring special
events
Treasurer: Money Keeper (4th to run meetings)
Responsibilities:
-Keeps a detailed record of all financial transactions the club makes.
-Posses and assumes responsibility for the club funds.
-Expected to create, and submit a budget or other funding requests.
-Works with President to create new fundraisers
Desirable Skill set:
-Reliable record keeper
-Trustworthy
-A bonus is experience with Excel, or Google Spreadsheet
Time Investment: Minimal outside of meetings, but during Fall semester variable
time dedicated to the budget, likely no more then a few hours one time, time
investment.
Some extra thoughts:
I will continue to run for President for this next year. This is not meant to
discourage others from running for this position, and I would like encourage
anyone who wishes to run, to run for this position. The reason I would like to
remain President for my last year is to setup a proper flow for the following
years, as to not allow things to return to how they were before me.
In keeping with that, I am announcing that whether or not I am elected, I would
like to see a monthly or bi-weekly meeting for all four officers, which they
are expected to attend. I am putting more importance on officer attendance for
the following year, especially for the Secretary position. While you are not
expected to be at every meeting as Secretary consistent attendance is now a
requirement to run for this position. This is because the Secretary will be in
charge of keeping attendance, and will have to have another officer track
attendance in their absence.
Lastly the desirable skill set is not meant to prevent you from running for any
position, it is only meant as a guide to see where you would be a better fit.
None of the skill sets are a requirement. The Vice President should not have to
mess with guts of the website after I am done with my changes. Also a short
note, I will have an easy method for all officers to submit news worthy stories
that fall into their category to the website.
Thanks again everyone, and please begin thinking of whether or not you want to
run, we need officers to carry us through this next year, so don't be shy, and
please get back to me ASAP!

As an extra incentive to hand over your DVDs, for each DVD you bring in, you get 2 additional attendance marks. There are some exceptions, such as, it cannot be the same DVD twice, nor one we already have in the library, it also has to be legit.
Be sure to mark your name on it with masking tape, or a sticky note so we know whose it is!

As usual, almost everything you could want to know is somewhere on the website. If there's anything you want to know that's not included, please let me know.
Anyway, there's a homework assignment due on the 9th of February.
Write two things that you'd like to see the club do this semester. Or if this is too difficult, then write two things that you'd like to see the club do next year.
Please bring your suggestions to the meeting on Saturday on a sheet of paper to be turned in.
Of course, nothing in life is free. So as a prize for your hard work, you'll be receiving an extra attendance mark that goes toward the raffle for the Dragon*Con or Anime Weekend Atlanta ticket. Of course, if you're not a member this probably doesn't mean much to you since only members are eligible.
Want to fix the problem of ineligibility? Then become a member! Membership costs $15 a semester. And you get cool perks, such as access to the FTP, 3 pizza slices and free drink refills at meetings, access to the club's library, a membership card, and of course the ability to enter the raffle for the free Dragon*Con or Anime Weekend Atlanta ticket.
Good luck.

The Meetings page has been edited to include the new list of shows for this semester. If you didn't show up for the first meeting, check out what we'll be watching. The dates for the meetings are also on this page.
As we finished Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi, and Baccano!, we will be adding two new shows in addition to showing the second season of Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei.
Membership is still available for purchase with the following perks: access to the club's awesome FTP, 3 slices of pizza and free drink refills at meetings, access to the club's library, membership card, and a chance to win a ticket to Dragon*Con or Anime Weekend Atlanta.
So far there are no showing dates. Stay tuned for further showing updates.

I will be organizing a trip to Ru San's this Saturday the 17th. The current plan is to make reservations at 6:00 after the meeting. For those that do not know about Ru Sans, know it is a decently priced sushi place, a short distance from campus. Your typical sushi meal will run you about $12-$20. There are of course other Japanese food options for those not into sushi. Also important to know, is since the money is not being spent on pizza, it will go towards purchasing food for the table; of course this benefit is only available to members.
So if you are interested in Ru San's this Saturday after the meeting, and if you are willing to volunteer to carpool people, please go to this thread on the boards:
http://cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/anime/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1161
I highly recommend that if you are interested you post, this will help a lot with carpooling and reserving us a table. So please do.
