Astronomy Club General Meeting

- Announcements:
- Astronaut Robert Crippen, who flew on 4 space shuttle missions (including the very first STS-1), will be giving a lecture on 9/16/08 3pm at the Ferst Center.
- Camping trip: 9/28/08. Cost- $15 for registration, $10 per night (unconfirmed).
- Solar observation this Friday 9/12/08 11am at Skiles walkway.
- Possibility of Fernbank Observatory visit on Tuesday 9/23/08
- Shen Ge will email guys about camping trip and check out what planetarium show will be screening at Fernbank.
- Club will be purchasing a universal camera mount to connect camera to telescope eyepiece (~$35) and a tripod for H-alpha scope (~$60)
- David Rutter gives a presentation on ‘Stellarium’- a free open-source software for planetarium shows and telescope control and a photo-realistic software.
- Demo of Stellarium.
- Next meeting: Monday 9/15/2008 at LT5. We will go to the Physics building observatory (weather permitting)
