10.13.09 - Tri-Beta Initiation
Tri-Beta initiation will be on Tuesday October 13th at 7PM in Howey S107. If you haven't paid your dues, please do so then. Associate member dues are $35 and regular member dues are $45. Even if you have already been initiated, please come out and support our new members! The whole ceremony should be less than 45 minutes.
9.10.09 - Ice Cream Social
We will hold our annual ice cream social on Tuesday from 11-12 on the Skiles Lawn so take a break from the heat and come join us! Meet other BBB members, find out more information about Tri-Beta and what we are planning for the fall. There will be plenty of icecream and toppings! This is a key event for member recruitment, so spread the news.
4.07.09 - Open Heart Surgery
We have a unique opportunity to observe an open heart surgery at Kennestone Hospital next Tuesday, April 14, beginning at 8 AM. There are still a few open spots, if you're interested in joining us. Please email Erin for more info. This will be our last event of the semester.
3.10.09 - MCAT Strategy Session
Join us for free pizza and a free MCAT strategy session by Princeton Review on Tuesday, March 10th at 6 PM in COC Room 17. Please RSVP to erin.clark@gatech.edu if you plan to attend. Also, feel free to invite any friends who are planning to take the MCAT. This is a great opportunity for pre-med students of all classes.
1.27.09 - BODIES Exhibit!
We will be going to the BODIES Exhibit in Atlantic Station on Tuesday, January 27th at 6 PM. If you're interested, please contact Erin. The deadline for the admission fee at a group rate of $19 is Monday, January 26th. Come join and invite your friends!

The Tri-Beta Induction Ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 16th at 6 PM in Cherry Emerson 320. Come out and join us for a good time as we welcome new members!
10.07.08 - Next Meeting

9.23.08 - First Meeting
The first meeting of this semester will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd from 11:15 - 12 in Howey Physics, room S107. Students will be able to pay dues and become members. We will also be accepting suggestions for events this year.

4.17.08 - Last Meeting
We will hold our last meeting of the semester on Thursday, April 17th at 11am in Cherry Emerson room 320. We will be holding officer elections and be discussing plans for the spring picnic!
4.11.08 - Relay for Life
The night has finally come. Please arrive at 7pm on Friday, April 11th. Due to weather, the event has been moved inside the CRC. Once you get there, continue down the hall to the concession stand past the swimming pool to register. The event lasts until 7am, but you are not required to stay the whole night. We will be selling cupcakes for our fundraiser. If you'd like to help, e-mail Erin.
3.25.08 - Live Open Heart Surgery!
For those of you who attended the orientation, the live open heart surgery will be on Tuesday, March 25th. Please park in the purple lot and arrive at the hospital at 7 am sharp!
3.13.08 - Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13th from 11-12 in Cherry Emerson room 320. Dr. Leavey will give a presentation on what you can do with a BS in Biology.
2.23.08 - Behind the Scenes Tour at the Aquarium
Come with us for a Behind the Scenes Tour at the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday, February 23rd! Tri beta will pay for the Tour, but everyone will be required to pay the admission price of $27. This is a $72 value, so take advantage! The tour starts at 12:00, so we will meet in the student center at 11:00 and carpool over there. Be sure to RSVP soon because we will only be able to take 15 people!
2.19.08 - Open Heart Surgery Orientation
Members will have the oppportunity to view a live open heart surgery at Kennestone Hospital! In order to do so, you must attend an Orientation that will be held on Tuesday, February 19th from 4-6. You will also need to get a TB test and turn in the forms that were e-mailed to everyone, along with a copy of your immunization records. Meet in the first floor lobby of the ES&T building at 3:00 that day. The date for the actual surgery has not been set yet.

We will have our first meeting on Tuesday, Februrary 12th in Cherry Emerson room 320. New members can bring their dues. We will be discussing plans for this semester!
11.08.07 - Free MCAT Strategy Session!
The Princeton Review has been nice enough to offer a FREE MCAT strategy session on Thursday, November 8th from 6-8pm in COC 101. They will even provide us with free pizza and sodas! Most strategy sessions are very expensive, so take advantage of this great opportunity! If you would like to take a practice MCAT beforehand, visit their site at demo.princetonreview.com. RSVP to Erin if you plan on attending.
10.27.07 - TEAM Buzz
Sign up for team buzz! It will be held on Saturday, October 27th from approximately 8am - 1pm. This year we will be volunteering for AWARE (Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort) and helping to build animal enclosures and work on pathways. 10.13.07 - Yellow River Game Ranch
On Saturday, October 13th we will be going to the Yellow River Game Ranch. You will be able to pet deer and other Georgia native animals! Meet at the Cherry Emerson Lobby at 8:45 and we will carpool from there. Bring food to feed the animals (no bread allowed though)! Admission will be covered by Tri Beta.

Join tri beta in welcoming new associate and regular members! The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 6-8pm in Skiles Garden. Dress is formal and refreshments will be provided.

This is the final deadline to pay dues, so if you have conflicts, please contact Amanda or Charles (but please try and make it!). There's information regarding dues on the following link, and if you have any questions feel free to ask any officer.

4.26.06 - Spring 2006 Picnic
Our annual spring picnic will take place from 5:30-7:30 PM at the small amphitheater next to the campanile on Wednesday, April 26th.
The rain location is room 322 in Cherry Emerson. FREE FOOD!!!
4.23.06 - Aquarium Trip
The aquarium trip is going to be on Sunday, April 23rd starting at 11 AM.
Dr. Yen will be going with us as well as a graduate student, so we will have our own tour guides.
4.18.06 - Officer Elections
We will have a meeting on Tuesday, April 18th at 11 AM in CE 320 to elect officers for next year.
4.15.06 - AWARE Service Project
Our service project with Atlanta AWARE Wildlife Rehabilitation will be on Saturday, April 15th.
Some of the projects will be:
1. Clearing several areas in the woods for large flight cages and mammal cages.
2. Moving caging materials to each site.
3. Assembling one flight cage and maybe one mammal cage.
3.7.06 - Meeting
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, March 7th at 11 AM in CE 320. T-shirts will be available for
$6 each, and we will discuss our upcoming events. Certificates will also be available for anyone
who was inducted last semester.
2.7.06 - Meeting
We will be having a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7th at 11 AM in CE 204. Certificates will
be distributed to members who joined last semester. We will also be accepting dues from new
members and taking money for honor cords.
1.31.06 - Lab Tour
On Tuesday, Jan. 31st Dr. McDonald will be giving a tour of his cancer research lab as a follow-up
to the live surgery. Anyone interested please meet in the lobby of IBB at 11 AM.
11.30.05 - Live Surgery
The live surgery is scheduled for 5 pm on Wednesday Nov 30th at Northside Hospital.
11.22.05 - Meeting
We will be having a meeting on Tuesday, November 22nd at 11 AM in Cherry Emerson 320.
AIDS Awareness Week, t-shirt designs, and the upcoming cancer talk and live surgery will be discussed.
Also, honor cords will be available for graduating seniors who ordered them.

BBB will be having its last formal meeting of the semester to elect Officers for the upcoming 2005-2006 year. Make sure you come out
to rock your vote! Your vote counts, even if you're graduating this semester.

3.12.05 - BBB Service Project
TriBeta returned to the South Peachtree Creek Nature Preserve. This time we worked with Tech's MOVE team to help tear down old bird
cages. We got to meet lots of cute animals as well, including turtles, hawks, an owl, and a funny little beaver.

11.4.04 - TRI-BETA AND ASM RESEARCH MEETING!
Tri-Beta and ASM had a wonderful panel of biology students and faculty come
talk to us about the benefits of getting involved in research.

It was a great event, and we brought in a bunch of new people. Skiles Garden was beautifully lit with candles.

10.23.04 - Team Buzz!
Tri-Beta went to Zoo Atlanta for Team Buzz, and it was
awesome! We broke up into groups to cover various projects. Afterwards, we got to hang out in the zoo for free! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and helped us have

4.1.04 - FOOLED YA!
Tri-Beta strikes in the night! We covered campus with plastic
eggs containing treats and snips of biological information. The
list of facts we gathered will be posted sometime soon. Hope you
got your egg!
4.3.04 - SPRINGTIME at the NATURE PRESERVE!
We had another great time at South Peachtree Creek Nature Preserve
this semester! They really needed our help for their monthly work
day. We did lots of mulching and kudzu-destroying. We fixed up
the native plant garden and even installed a bike rack! Check
out the pictures here. A BIG THANKS to everyone who came out to
help, we will definitely return next year.
2.3.04 - Grad School Preparation Workshop
Dr. Amanda Gable from graduate studies spoke on Feb 3 to a capacity
crowd in Cherry Emerson. The presentation covered how to prepare
for graduate school: what you should do as an underclassman all
the way through the GRE, the application process, and scholarship
opportunities. Check

1.29.03 - Fernbank Trip
We headed to Fernbank for free, as part of the museum’s January
celebration. We checked out the permanent collections at Fernbank
as well as the new Lions IMAX film. (Sorry, no pictures!)
1.22.03 - First Spring Semester Meeting
This meeting covered our spring semester plan, and a new initiative
for collecting word for Tri-Beta member use. We also took volunteers
for various outings and semester projects.
11.13.03 - Second Meeting
The Tri-Beta Coffee Shop served up pastries, bagels, coffee and
more on Thursday, November 13! We discussed the best and worst
of biology at Tech: what classes to take, what profs to avoid,
how to get involved in research, etc. We also decided to return
to the SPC nature preserve in the spring semester, and host a
speech on scholarship and research.
11.8.03 - Zoo Atlanta
Tri-Beta paid admissions fees for 12 lucky members. See the Photo

10.28.03 - Fall Inductions
Tri-Beta's fall inductions were held in the garden area next to
Skiles classroom building at 7pm on October 28th. New and upgrading
members will be officially inducted into the society and will

10.18.03 - Team Buzz Service Project
Tri-Beta participaed in TEAM Buzz on October 18, 2003 at the South Peachtree Creek Nature Preserve.
We will be helping to clean up trails and do groundskeeping. Projects
included spreading mulch over trails, removing fallen debris,
relocating a drifted boardwalk and more! Pictures

9.23.03 - 1st Official Meeting
Prospective members were given an introduction to the society
and we brainstormed ideas for upcoming events. We also decorated
the lounge- stop by Cherry Emerson room 311 to see our handiwork!

This was a chance for people to interact with other biology majors,
professors, graduate students and enjoy gorgeous weather and ice
