Coach Brian McSparron commented after the game that this was a hard fought battle between two arch rivals that never quit. It went down to the wire just like many of the UGA/GT games in recent memory. But we didn’t give up and fought to the end for the win. Goalie Maxx Lucas didn’t have his best game due to the flu. I like his attitude that he wanted to play, even though not feeling his best since this was Georgia. Give credit to Georgia as they came to play and took advantage of their opportunities. I am happy we didn’t give up a goal even strength, but we took too many penalties that gave them the power plays that made this game close. Whitney Yiu had a gorgeous penalty shot that was just huge to our momentum. He really came up big that lifted the team.
Brendan O’Leary for his penalty kills and also for getting his first goal ever against Georgia
Ryan Fritz for his play making abilities
And on defense, Austin Kaase for his big goal at the end with 2 minutes left. That sealed the victory.
