Coach's Corner
First Year Defense Looking Good
September 23, 2006
Coach Greg commented after game one that he felt the team got off to a slow start but played better in the second period.
The second period really changed the game around. Tom Porter played a good hockey game. Nick Rice stepped up an played a solid game in the net.
This was a good win for our program against a good hockey team in Central Florida. They are big a fast and will post many wins this season.
After game two, Coach Greg commented that the second game of the series was a special teams game.
With 35 penalties called in this game (due to new rule enforcement), we had more stamina and conditioning.
This gave our power play opportunities to be effective. We also had a chance to see how some of our first year players could be, especially on defense after Christian Gattung went down with a knee injury.
The rookies really stepped up on defense. Tom Porter had an excellent weekend and John Krisinger played very well on both offense and defense.
