NC State Powers over Jackets
November 4, 2006

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7 – 2) continued their home stand with a 4-1 loss to the North Carolina State Wolf Pack at the Duluth Ice Forum on Saturday November 4th.

The game was scoreless after the first period, but Tech was out shot 12-1. The Jackets played great defense as NC State pressured the offensive zone with their speed and crisp passing.

Special teams played an important role at the beginning of period two as The Wolf Pak scored two quick shorthanded goals within 13 seconds. Both goals came as results of defensive turnovers in the Tech zone.

That 2 goal lead seemed to fire up the Jackets as they stepped up their offensive play that resulted in a goal just two minutes later as Dan Sweeney scored close in with the assist going to Brendan O’Leary.

That made the score 2-1 NC State. The NC State goalie kept the Wolf Pak in the game as he made some incredible saves during the balance of the period as Tech out shot the Wolf Pak 18-15.

NC State scored toward the end of the period to take a 3-1 lead at the end of two.

A Tech short bench showed as NC State dominated the third period in both shots and play in their offensive zone. They did score a power play goal half way through the period to close out the scoring at 4-1.

Overall, the Wolf Pak out shot Tech 42-23. Nick Rice made 38 saves for the Yellow Jackets
