It all came be summed up in one word: disappointment.
The Yellow Jackets played a very strong game at both ends but could not put the puck in the net as they lost to the Georgia Bulldogs 1-0 in the finale of the Savannah Tournament.
Tech dominated the puck control and kept the puck in the offensive zone for the majority of the game. Overall the Jackets out shot the Dawgs, 34-24. Both teams played great defense before the sellout crowd at the Savannah Civic Center of just over 11,000.
But it was Georgia that got the break and scored with just 2:22 left in the game.
Tech Goalie Craig Tabita played an outstanding game stopping 23 of 24 shots, but it was the defense from both teams that really was the story.
In the first period, Tech had a 5-3 for two minutes and couldn’t score. The same was true for the Bulldogs in the second period as they had a 5 on 3 but the Jacket defense stopped the attack without giving up a score.
It was in period three as time was winding down that Georgia got an odd man rush, and scored on a rebound to take the victory.
Craig Tabita (2nd start of his career) was named to the All Tourney Team as was newcomer Defenseman Arne Krogh.
