Saturday Night The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets played their final home game of the season and honored the Captain Mike Zaucha.

Mike was a five year player and is a current grad student. Due to leadership off and on the ice and numerous seasons leading the Jackets in points, the Georgia Tech Coaching Staff decided to retire Mike’s Jersey number 19 after the season is over. Zaucha is just the 4th player to have his number retired.

The Jackets also had a moment of silence before the game for Alabama Assistant Coach Brent Ullom who recently passed away on Friday January 26th after fighting cancer.

Once the game began, Tech dominated both ends of the ice and scored a 9-3 victory.

The Jackets out shot Alabama 38-21 and had three power play goals in the contest.

Tech had goals by (assist in parentheses): Jeremy Spafard (his first) (Andy DeChirico and Arnie Krogh); Arnie Krogh (unassited); Mike Zaucha (Tom Porter and Krogh); Dan Sweeney (Porter and B.J. Stapleton); Zaucha (his second) (Porter and Sweeney); Tom Porter (Sweeney); Sweeney (his second) (Krogh); Drew Baker (Austin Kaase): B.J. Stapleton (Christian Gattung).

Craig Tabita made 17 saves and back up goalie Natalie Sanders made 1 save.

Tech travels to Middle Tennessee State University on Friday Feb 23rd for their final tune-up before Nationals on Feb 28th.
