Completed in the Fall of 2001, the Samuel Richmond Fussell House is currently slated to undergo several upgrades, including renovations to several of the rooms and a new security system. The house features rooms for over 36 brothers, a common room for social events, and a study room to maintain our high standard of scholarship. The chapter house is also located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Techwood Drive, which will become the new main entrance to Georgia Tech. The house is also within convenient walking distance to both the football and baseball stadiums. Below are sketches of the floorplan for the lower and upper floors of the house. First Floor:

  • Common area, known as the Grand Room which provides an entertaining environment to relax in between classes
  • Recreation room, where brothers can enjoy games of pool and an indoor and outdoor stereo
  • Dining area with a commercial kitchen where brothers eat together every night throughout the school year
  • Back porch where brothers have room to park or complete chapter projects

Second Floor:

  • Large study room that will be featured in the upcoming KA Journal, Kappa Alpha's premier national publication
  • Eight single man rooms each sharing a full bathroom, and nine double man rooms
  • Laundry room with two washers and two dryers
  • Outdoor porch that offers a relaxing view of the impressive Atlanta skyline

Above is the Kappa Alpha mansion shortly after its completion. It houses 36 brothers and has a study room, pool room, and grand room which total more than 15,000 square feet.
Here is the KA House during the Auburn tailgate. The house was quite crowded as basketball star Charles Barkley tailgated with KA that day.
