Taxes

Not cool. They should be minimized as much as possible.

Government spending

The maximum role of any goverment should be to maintain a military force to protect against foreign invaders, public servents to protect individuals and their property, and courts to resolve disputes. Can't think of much else. Why should you have be forced to pay for all this other stuff.

Bailouts

Bailouts suck. The free market rewards good businesses through profit and punishes failing businesses through bankruptcy. But if the goverment bails out failing businesses, then it does the opposite by taking money from sucessful businesses and giving that money to the losers.

Drug Laws

There should be no laws restricting what individual humans choose to put into their own bodies, nor requiring people to ingest any substances.

National Service

There should be no draft or any other type of mandatory government "volunteer" programs. Note that if the government gives tax credits in exchange for governement service, it is actually using coercion since it will forcibly take your money through taxes if you don't participate in its "volunteer" program.

Pollution

If someone pollutes your property, they have aggressed against you, and you should be compensated for the damages done.

Bill of Rights

Very important. It seems everyday, the goverment slowly takes away our rights. The Bill of Rights contains such things as your right to a trial and protections from searches and siezure. Most important is the 9th amendment which reminds us that there is an infinite number of rights that we have although they may not be listed in the Constitution. Libertarians like all the rights safeguarded in the Bill of Rights, unlike the left and right, who like to pick and choose which ones they like and which ones they don't like.

Free Expression

My right to say it, your right to listen. No goverment rules should restrict individual speech or the media or the right of people to associate in any manner.

Guns

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. This is an individual right just like all the other amendments in the Bill of Rights.

Ballot-access Laws

Not cool. If person A wants to vote for person B, then another person or group of people should be able to tell them who they can vote for.

Others

Of course there are an unlimited number of issues that are not listed for purposes of brevity, and our silence on them should not be construed to mean that we don't feel they are important. If you feel we omitted something that you feel strongly about, then come to one of our meetings and suggest adding it to this list.
