about.me

I grew up in a dinky town just outside New York City: Leonia, NJ. I have two cats, Basil and Nigel (pictures are forthcoming). When I'm on campus I live at the Sixth Street Apartments in Atlanta with 5 roommates. My main hobbies are reading about graphic design (on and offline), and relaxing -- I don't really have time to do much else. I listen to Z100 when I'm up north, and 99x down south.

favorite.sites

My all time favorite site online is The Designer's Lunchbox at http://www.k10k.net/. Second favorite of all time is FreshFroot at http://www.freshfroot.com/. They are both masterfully designed and implemented; it must be difficult for them to keep the quality of the content up to the standard that the design has benchmarked, but nevertheless they succeed brilliantly.

my.artwork

My recreational artwork is, for the most part, three-dimensional images and movies. Be forewarned, some of these files are very large, and will take a long time to download. All images are in .png format, and all movies are in .avi format.

I use Vue d'Esprit 4, Bryce 5, TrueSpace 5.1, Fireworks 4, Universe 1.63, and Micrografx Picture Publisher 8. All that is running on a Dell Inspiron 7500 with a PIII at 750MHz, 512Mb RAM, and a 30Gb hdd. I highly recommend getting a better computer than that before trying to run more than one of those programs at once :-) The programs I used to make each piece are respectively noted below. Enjoy!

cat.videos

I have two cats: Basil and Nigel. Both are devon rexes -- although they are native to England, Basil was born in Cape May, NJ, and Nigel was born in Canada. Nigel is extremely playful, and doesn't take anything seriously: every time we sit down to dinner he brings us his toys so that he can play fetch. Basil, on the other hand, is independant and very possessive. They make an interesting couple -- hope you enjoy :-)

Image Help
You'll need an image viewer that is capable of viewing .png files, and you must be running in high color (24-bit). My image viewer of choice is VCW VicMan's Photo Editor: it's free, popular, and easy to use.

Video Help
To view the videos, your monitor resolution must be greater than 800x600, running in high color (24-bit) or better. Once you meet those requirements, you'll need a streaming video player capable of MPEG Bit Casting. My choice is Real Player: it's free and easy to use.

New Jersey Drivers
I guess it really hit me when I came back from Georgia Tech for summer vacation -- drivers in NJ are not only less considerate and less attentive to road conditions, but they are angrier. They view yielding as a sign of weakness; red lights are bad luck, and other cars on the road are competitors. Drag racing (and the grave consequences) has been making headlines lately, but despite this, nearly all drivers I have encountered in the past three months (including myself at times) succumb to the most severe form of road rage: we become passive-aggressive and are more likely to break the law.

The past couple of weeks have been worse than usual, though. At the approach to the Lincoln Tunnel a Kia struck my car and a Honda CRV and didn't stop -- he just laughed and kept driving. A semi cut me off on a residential road: I was in a tiny Volvo. An Infinity was driving the wrong way on a one way street and was getting angry at the rest of the drivers on the road.
