MSGT Meeting
Tuesday, September 9, 11am
Student Center 320
Welcome to 2008! We've got a great year ahead! This year, we will continue the Mars Desert Research Station rotations, local outreach, the University Rover Challenge, and new projects. Come to a meeting for more information, or email one of the officers. For examples of past presentations from meetings, please see our resources page.
The purpose of the Mars Society is to further the goal of the exploration and settlement of the Red Planet. This will be done by broad public outreach to instill the vision of pioneering Mars, support of ever more aggressive government funded Mars exploration programs around the world, and conducting Mars exploration on a private basis. Starting small, with hitchhiker payloads on government funded missions, we intend to use the credibility that such activity will engender to mobilize larger resources that will enable stand-alone private robotic missions and ultimately human exploration. The Mars Society at Georgia Tech encourages the exploration and settlement of Mars through research programs and public outreach.
Students, faculty, staff, or alumni of Georgia Tech and their spouses, or students from institutions affiliated or allied with Georgia Tech who have paid the Georgia Tech activity fee are qualified for membership in MSGT. Students must be eligible for participation in extra-curricular activities as defined by the Georgia Tech Student Handbook in order to become members. Co-op students in the Atlanta metro area are considered full-time Georgia Tech students for the purpose of membership. Dues will be collected from MSGT memebers in a rolling collection. Dues will be the current SGA minimum ($15/semester for 2006-2007 year). It is also suggested that members pay national Mars Society dues.
Go to http://lists.gatech.edu and log in. If you are not a Georgia Tech student, or you wish to receive the email at another address, please contact Emily Colvin at gtg902s@mail.gatech.edu. "Search Lists" for 'MSGT'. Click the link that appears. You will then be taken to the MSGT List main site. On the left side of the screen will be an option for "Subscribe". Follow the instructions on the page, and you're all set!
