Chapter Officer Position Descriptions
President
- Interact with other chapter presidents in the President/EVP Community of Interest.
- Attend Leadership Summit in July.
- Bring NSCS calendar to ALL meetings to ensure proper planning.
- Organize, plan, and facilitate the growth and success of the chapter (make sure people are doing their jobs).
- Compile agendas for each chapter meeting.
- Plan and coordinate chapter officer meetings.
- Plan and coordinate general chapter membership meetings.
- Achieve gold star status and chapter goals.
- Maintain a good relationship with the chapter advisor and scholar ambassador.
- Determines distinguished member nominations with chapter and officer input.
- Register chapter as a campus organization.
- Ensure his/her signature is included on all chapter checks.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter president.
Executive Vice President (EVP)
- Interact with other chapter EVP's in the President/EVP Community of Interest.
- Work with chapter president to ensure the growth and success of the chapter.
- Oversee the planning of the induction convocation.
- Plan meeting rooms and food.
- Oversee/Plan socials and make sure they get done.
- Fulfill the duties of the chapter president in his/her absence.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Develop goals for chapter (yearly and term).
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter EVP.
Vice President for Community Service (VPCS)
- Interact with other VP's of community service in the Community Service Ideas Community of Interest.
- Involve members in community service initiatives (at least once a month).
- Form committees for NYSD and Make a Difference Day.
- Work with the national office to involve the chapter in national service initiatives.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter VP for Community Service.
Vice President for Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence (VPPACE)
- Interact with other VP's of PACE in the Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence Community of Interest.
- Coordinate the NSCS PACE on campus.
- Appoint PACE chairs (2-5 people).
- Get PACE program running from mid-september through spring semester.
- Form Committee for March to College Day in the Spring.
- Establish and maintain relationship with junior high school staff.
- Recruit and train PACE volunteers on campus.
- Provide NSCS national office with regular updates via Report PACE Activities in the Officer Tools at nscs.org.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter VP for PACE.
Secretary
- Facilitate all correspondence and distribution of materials to chapter members.
- Record minutes of the leadership and general meetings in a timely fashion.
- Submit notes of meetings to chapter members, executive board members (especially the webmaster, for inclusion on the website), and the NSCS national office via Report Meeting Minutes under Officer Tools at nscs.org.
- Provide NSCS national office with regular updates via nscs.org.
- Maintain a calendar of events and deadlines, and make sure everyone is on task with those deadlines.
- Take attendance at all meetings.
- Keep track of member points and chapter points.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter secretary.
Treasurer/Fundraiser
- Generate and record all the income for GT NSCS (which inlcudes: finding and maintaining corporate sponsorships, interfacing with local businesses, and creating campus activities to secure monetary as well as material goods (supplies, event space, etc.).
- Prepare annual chapter budget and be able to provide an updated budget at executive board meetings.
- Manage and oversee all financial transactions for the chapter, in conjuction with chapter advisor.
- Manage the NSCS bank account.
- Submit annual financial report to NSCS national office.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Ensure signature is on all chapter-related checks.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter treasurer/fundraiser.
Publicity/Historian
- Oversee the documentation of the yearly chapter events in the chapter scrapbook.
- Maintain a portfolio to submit to the national office at the end of the year.
- Supply the webmaster with pictures that document the chapter's events for the website.
- Advertise upcoming events on campus.
- Coordinate NSCS Spirit Week in the Spring to coincide with invitation mailing.
- Promote the continued success of the chapter and its reputation on campus and in the community.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter publicity/historian.
Webmaster
- Maintain the chapter website, http://cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/nscs, and ensure that all information (news, minutes, pictures, files (applications), etc) is up to date.
- Provide NSCS national office with regular updates that include a list of changes to the site.
- Attend all chapter meetings.
- Transition all aspects of position to next chapter webmaster.
