This Fall, rush presents us a formidable challenge: recruitment of a large number of students, who can replenish our thinning ranks, given a limited budget, and a reduced number of active brothers.
Extra effort is being put into our rush preparation and activities: this year's rush letter to the incoming freshmen was accompanied by a short publication, entitled, `Survival at Tech: Sink or Swim.' This publication contained several articles about success at Georgia Tech, written by some of our alumni. It also included additional information about academics and life at Georgia Tech, which the freshmen will hopefully find useful. Credit goes to David Eison, a recent alumnus, for putting together the initial version of this guide.
The rush letter also contained an invitation to our summer rush cook-out on July 22. I'd like to invite all alumni to this event, so that they have a chance at meeting some of the newly admitted Georgia Tech students. We'll be lighting the grill at noon.
I have also made arrangements with another alumnus, Brian Clark, to organize a boating trip to lake Lanier, and take along any willing freshmen and brothers. More details will be announced on the day of the cook-out, when I see how many people want to go.
Last, but definitely not least, is Fall rush, which starts Friday, August 18, and ends Thursday, August 24. I urge all alumni to try to visit us during at least one rush night (the schedule for Fall rush is included in this newsletter). This time, we need all the help we can get.
