General Meeting 4/7/2008

Posted on Monday 21 April 2008

Today was the last official general meeting of this semester. However, the events don’t end now. A brief synopsis of tonight’s meeting: First, Steph spoke about Relay for Life, and asked for donations for her efforts, since Tech doesn’t officially have a team. Relay For Life supports cancer research, and is hosted by the American Cancer Society. Online donations can be made.

Pride Alliance is having it’s annual Glitter Pop Drag Show on Friday, April 11th. We are distributing flyers to local businesses and other establishments who would be willing to have them.

The End of the Year Picnic is Sunday, April 20th at Piedmont Park. Please email Ryan if you would like to bring any food and have not signed up.

The Georgia Tech Day of Silence is Friday, April 25th. The Day of Silence is designed to illustrate the voices that are not heard as a result of harassment, bullying, name calling, etc. As this day is at the end of Dead Week, it is understandable that questions will need to be asked to professors or TAs (etc.), but we do ask that the everyday conversation and chatter be silenced for this day. There will be a t-shirt construction gathering the day before (April 24th). At the end of the day, we will be having a “breaking the silence” party as well. More information about this day will be released in the form of email.
Lastly, Pride Alliance needs people to help staff the club table at the FASET sessions over the summer. If you are interested, please email Ryan.
