Georgia Tech's Student Government Association, a unique body comprised
of an Undergraduate and Graduate a tier was chartered in 1922.
The SGA has continually sought to enhance student life at Georgia
Tech. Our goals reflect the strong commitment we have to our constituency,
the student body: improving the campus community through various
projects and initiatives; creating and promoting leadership opportunities
for all students; facilitating and fostering the interaction between
students, faculty, staff, and administration; and acting as the
voice for our peers.
As with most governments, our SGA functions on three-branch system, each with
an Undergraduate and a Graduate component. Our legislature, which
passes various legislation and resolutions and holds the sole
authority to allocate over $2 million in student activity fees
is a bicameral body consisting of the Undergraduate House of Representatives
and the Graduate Senate. The Executive Branch, headed by the president
and a cabinet of committee chairs, sets goals for the government,
acts as a liaison to the administration, and directly implements
the policies that affect the daily lives of students. The Judicial
Branch reviews violations of the Student Conduct Code (excluding
academic violations) and interprets the legislation and action
of our legislature. All three work in a parity of checks and balances,
ensuring that the students receive the best representation and
support here at the Institute.
We welcome you to our web site, encourage you to explore its contents, and
hope that you will contact us with your comments. We are here
to work for you, the students of Georgia Tech!
