History
The Sigma Chi Fraternity is one of the world's largest national fraternities, having initiated over 235,000 members since its founding in 1855 at the University of Miami at Ohio. With 229 active chapters across North America, and over 100 alumini chapters, Sigma Chi is one of the most recognized fraternities in both the U.S. and Canada. The Georgia Tech chapter is one of the oldest on campus, with its founding dating back to 1922. The Sigma Chi Fraternity strives to instill in its members commitment to high ideals and noble purposes. The essence of this pursuit is captured in "The Sigma Chi Mission Statement", encapsulating what all true Sigma Chi's aspire to and believe. The abbreviated version of the Statement appears below:
"The mission of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is to promote friendship, justice, and learning as the exemplification of our brotherhood and to inspire a lifelong commitment to serve well our families, friends, and the communities in which we live and work"
