GT Triathlon: About

Mission
The mission of the Georgia Tech Triathlon Club is to promote the sport of triathlon among college students. Our club members actively train and race triathlon in races around the Atlanta area, as well as throughout the country. Members range from national-calibur racers to first time triathletes.

Tri 1501: An Intro to Triathlon
The sport of triathlon consists of a swim, bike ride, and run (in that order). These events are completed in rapid succession, with athletes "transitioning" from event to event by changing their gear in a designated "transition area." The only equipment required to complete a triathlon is a swimsuit and goggles, bicycle and helmet, and a pair of running shoes. Extra accessories such as a wetsuit, race-ready bicycle, fancy cycling equpiment, and expensive racing suit are certainly handy to have, but not essential to enjoying the sport of triathlon.

GT Triathlon understands the hesitancy of athletes to get involved in the sport for a number of reasons, but encourages anyone and everyone with an interest to give the sport a try! Our members are very helpful in assisting first-timers. If you have any interest in triathlon whatsoever, whether you're just starting out or competing in your 23rd triathlon, GT Tri Club is the right place for you.
