Anatolia, where today's Turkey resides, is one of the oldest inhabited regions in the world. She has been the mother for many civilizations throughout the history of mankind, and repeatedly served as a melting pot of cultures. The traces of these cultures that nourished in Anatolia still lives in the folk dances of the different regions of Turkey. The folk dances and the associated music emerges in a variety of forms and of very rich character in different regions. The folk culture of Anatolia is considered to be one of the richest living treasures on earth. (More) Turkish Folk Dances Group of Atlanta (TFDGA) celebrates this treasure by performing Anatolian folk dances in events that cherish the diversty of world cultures. The group members are a mixture of graduate students from Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Emory, as well as professionals interested in Turkish Folk Dances. The group was established in May 2001, and has been practicing since then. You may find previous performances and upcoming events here.
