Above &
Beyond Primary Training in the YJFC
Ever romanticize about
piloting a little plane over the wonders of the western US: the
Painted Desert, the Grand Canyon, and the Pacific Coast? Ask YJFCer
Randy Abler - he did just that with N9754B a couple years ago.
Or interested in trying to master the intense airspace of the
Northeast corridor? Ian Dutton (now an officer with a major airline
in the Northeast) has done that a couple of times with N55218.
Several people have taken the planes to destinations such as Florida,
Texas, the Gulf Coast and the upper Midwest. And you can, too...they
are YOUR planes, after all! Intermediate and advanced members
have very easy procedures to follow to take the planes on overnight
trips, and the minimums are easy to meet. Look elsewhere around
the YJFC web site to find some stories and photos from YJFCers'
trips.
Maybe you're interested in an airline career. Several people have
started from the beginning with the YJFC and gone on to airline
careers, earning important ratings along the way with the YJFC,
and then doing flight instruction with the club. Or maybe you
want an advanced rating - instrument or commercial or flight instructor
(highly encouraged!). Every year we have members earning advanced
ratings such as these...and you can too!
