Start with the Yellow
Jacket Flying Club Ground School!
Description:
This private pilot
ground school program will help prepare you for the knowledge requirements
of the private pilot standard. This class is for people who have never flown
before and would like to get started or those working on their private pilot
certificate and need help preparing for the written exam. Topics include aircraft
systems, aviation weather, aerial navigation (pilotage, dead reckoning, radio
navigation), Federal Aviation Regulations, radio procedures, and basic maneuvers.
The last few classes will help prepare you for the private pilot written exam.
The course will follow the Jeppeson syllabus used by Yellow Jacket Flying
Club flight instructors during the course of flight training.
Time and Place:
Private pilot ground school
is typically offered in the fall semester, and is often held following the weekly
Executive Committee meeting. More information about the Fall 2006 course will be
available at the beginning of the fall semester.
The class is usually about 10 weeks long.
Instructors:
The class will be
taught by Yellow Jacket Flying Club and FAA certified
flight instructors.
Cost:
The cost of the class
will be around $80, which can be paid the evening of the first class. You are stongly
encouraged to purchase a Jeppeson Aviation Kit, which includes a tote bag,
Private Pilot textbook, syllabus, log book, and plotter (a pilot's slide
rule).
