Zeta Tau Alpha was founded October 15, 1898 at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia by a group of nine dynamic women who shared the unbreakable bond of sisterhood. Since then, there have been 237 ZTA chapters founded, including the Iota Theta chapter founded at Georgia Tech on May 19, 1984, which became the 198th chapter nationwide.

Just as our founders were true Zeta Ladies, so too are the sisters of the Iota Theta chapter. They consistently represent the noble truths which their fraternity was founded upon, and this is clear through the plethora of chapter and community involvement, especially on Georgia Tech's campus. The women of Zeta Tau Alpha are involved with organizations such as Take Back the Night, Relay for Life, cheerleading, Campus Christian Fellowship, the GT Dance team, Connect With Tech, Freshman Council, FASET Orientation, Student Alumni Association, Executive Round Table, the women's Lacrosse team, Omicrom Delta Kappa, MOVE, Women of Science and Technology, Freshmen Government Association, Diversity Forum, and many more.

As well as campus involvement, each Zeta Tau Alpha supports their national philanthropy, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Education, Awareness, and Research. In 2008 for the third consecutive year, the Iota Theta chapter teamed up with the GT women's Basketball team to collect Yoplait yogurt lids. For each pink lid collected, Yoplait donated 10 cents to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and an extra 5 cents to the ZTA Foundation. Thirteen collegiate and eight alumnae ZTA chapters participated in this Think-Pink! Save Lids to Save Lives campaign, collecting more lids than any other organization nationwide, with the largest contribution from the Iota Theta chapter.

With all of their campus involvement, the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha still find time to enjoy the incredible sisterhood within Iota Theta from Sisterhood Week activities like Sisterhood Dinners, the annual BBQ for Breast Cancer Awareness, New Member Retreat in the fall, GT sporting events throughout the year, and multiple social events. During this past fall, their White Violet Semiformal, Whirley Ball Date Night, Tacky Christmas Senior Soiree, and multiple mixers were some of the social highlights of the semester. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha have established themselves and constantly continue their ways of excellence at Georgia Tech through academic accomplishments, campus and community involvement, service, and sisterhood.
